How will Arsenal's coaches handle Wenger's absence in Germany?

By Avenell Dave

Arsene Wenger's first European Arsenal match was a defeat to a German team, I seem to recall, against Borussia Monchengladbach (probably spelt that wrong!).

This evening sees him pit his wits against Borussia Dortmund from the stands, unable to coach the team when they need him most.

How will Pat Rice and Boro Primorac manage the team, what subs will they make if things are going badly?

The UEFA ban is of course a farce which makes a mockery of the European governing body, especially in light of the racist abuse and financial doping going on elsewhere in the game relatively unpunished.

It will be fascinating to see how the highly-rated Neven Subotic plays, someone who according to rumour we were expected to sign in 2010 only for the deal to stall and SUbotic to pledge his future to the now German Champions.

While it's justifiable to call the start of Arsenal's season a crisis, imagine what it must be like for Dortmund, who, as Champions, have already lost two games this season.

True, they were without starlet Mario Goetze who we have been linked to, due to suspension, but let's hope we can take advantage of their indifferent form.

Alex Song will return and his job must be to keep Goetze quiet but it will be fascinating to see how Mikel Arteta takes to European football.

I'm not surprised Aaron Ramsey is out, because he's played a lot lately, but he also need a break mentally. The form is just not consistent at the moment and he's still pretty raw.

Elegant and measured, he looks made for games like this and I disagree with those who say he was poor on Saturday. But he may well be targeted as well and it will be interesting to see how he copes.

Arsenal have to get something from this game and I'm confident we'll come away with victory, even though a point would also be a good start.

Right now, the Arsenal away support is better than at home and hopefully they will sing their hearts out for the team. The atmosphere of anxiety that has been growing at Emirates doesn't help a team in need of every boost it can get.

A final word of advice for Le Boss - don't use a phone or pass messages to your deputies by any means, another ban just isn't worth it.
