With Robin van Persie set to take a well earned break for tonight's Carling Cup clash against Bolton, the question most Addicts will be asking if just who can provide the goals to secure our progress in the competition.
Last time out, against Shewsbury, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Yossi Benayoun got on the scoresheet and it's likely that the starting line up tonight won't be too different from the team that did the business that night.
Unfortunately the likes of Gibbs and fellow defender Carl Jenkinson won't be available through injury, but there is a chance that Thomas Vermaelen could make his comeback this evening and that has to be some of the most welcome news we've had in a while.
Personally I think Vermaelen will start the game to improve his match fitness ahead of the Chelsea game this weekend, but just who he'll line up with is anyone's guess. Ignasi Miquel partnered Johan Djourou in the centre of defence last time out and I could see the Swiss filling in at right back again after doing an admirable job against Stoke on Sunday. And with few options at the back, I can't see Andre Santos being rested tonight either.
The centre of the park provides more options. Against Shrewsbury Le Boss selected Francis Coquelin, Emmanuel Frimpong and Oxlade-Chamberlain, but I think Bolton will be a tougher prospect, so I'm thinking along the lines of Frimpong, Rosicky and Ramsey for tonight, but there are so many players who could make up our midfield, I'm guessing you lot will have different ideas.
And up front there's a real opportunity for fringe players to stake their claim to be RvP's main deputy. I'd be astonished if Ju Song Park wasn't selected, given his form for his country, and with Yossi Benayoun watching from the sidelines last Sunday, it would be odd if he didn't get a start too. Arsene Wenger has all but promised that The Ox will get a game tonight, so with any luck we'll get another look at the youngster and maybe another goal to celebrate.
Unfortunately I'll be on a plane come kick off tonight, so I won't know the line up or the result until tomorrow, but in the meantime it would be good to hear your thoughts on sho should play this evening, so please make use of our comments facility below.
