Tonight should be a walk in the park, right?
Two-nil up from Parkhead against a side that didn’t even finish Scottish Champions last season.
With Tony ‘I don’t have a good record against English top flight clubs’ Mowbray in charge and with only one away win in Europe in the last decade or something.
But we said that about Hull City last season and our complacency was part of the reason why we struggled in the first half of the season.
Reputation has to be earned, fought for and sustained in this game, and I imagine Le Boss will be reminding the players that the job isn’t done yet.
In some ways, especially for the young players, it’s a chance to prove they deserve a chance at Old Trafford on Saturday and for others, a chance to rest up.
For that reason, I’d go with Aaron Ramsey in place of the injured Cesc Fabregas and give RvP a rest with Nick Bendtner leading the line.
Other than that, although this is a massive game, I’d like to see Kieran Gibbs retained, to give him a chance to prove in a big game that he has exorcised the ghost of the last time he played a European game at Emirates.
It would be great to keep a clean sheet as well – because if Celtic were to score first, a walk in the park will turn into a possible siege on our goal and we need to make sure we’re well rested ahead of the M*nure game on Saturday evening.
