Arsene Wenger insists a good result against Burnley on Sunday is the best preparation for Arsenal’s Champions League trip to Rome next Wednesday and as a result, we can expect a strong Gunners side for the FA Cup clash.
Burnley knocked out Arsenal’s young Guns in the Carling Cup earlier this season, so Le Gaffer and his squad will be looking for revenge and with a more experienced starting 11 we should hopefully put Burnley to the sword, as a replay would be a huge headache given the club’s already crowded fixture list.
Kolo Toure will not return for Sunday’s game, but he should be fit enough for the Italian job. However Emmanuel Adebayor has not recovered in time and will miss both games.
Better news is that both Theo Walcott and Eduardo will be in the squad for Sunday, greatly increasing Wenger’s attacking options and I wouldn’t be too surprised to see one of them - most likely Eduardo - starting the game. Although with Nicklas Bendtner finally finding his scoring boots and RvP rested midweek, I reckon both Walcott and Eduardo will gain a place on the bench and might get a cameo appearance after the hour mark...
Also returning to the squad is William Gallas, who has recovered from his ankle knock, meaning the only real decision for Le Boss to contemplate in defence is whether to play Alex Song or Johan Djourou alongside Willie.
With Mikael Silvestre, Tomas Rosicky and Cesc Fabregas still unavailable, that’s it in terms of injury news, but despite their continued absence I’m expecting a very strong starting line-up for the FA Cup game this weekend.
I reckon Arsene will rest one or two players ahead of the Roma game and the most likely candidate for me is Samir Nasri, who has been playing very well lately but is a little injury prone, so I wouldn't bee too dismayed to see the Frenchman protected before the trip overseas.
Share your thoughts on who should start the game and feel free to compare your choices against mine, which are:
Sagna Gallas Djourou Clichy
Eboue Denilson Diaby Arshavin
