Everyone is taking it for granted that we’re going to beat Hull City this evening.
Didn’t we think that in September when we coasted through the game, went into the lead and then suffered one of the most humiliating defeats in recent memory.
Yes, we’re starting to get players back and Hull are looking decidedly dodgy compared to the crest of a wave that they rode when they arrived in the top flight.
But to say that tonight’s game is going to be a breeze is perhaps ambitious.
The prospect of a game against Ch*vski at Wembley and the FA Cup semi-final is something all Gooners would relish, but let’s hope Arsène Wenger gets the side playing
Reports suggest Andrey Arshavin will fail to recover from the gash he suffered against Blackburn and Aaron Ramsey has been rested for a couple of weeks to allow him to recover from his first season in the first team squad.
So for me, the side picks itself, although I suspect Carlos Vela will get another start up front, possibly with Robin van Persie after the Dutchman’s enforced rest last weekend.
I also expect Theo Walcott to start on the bench, so his return to the side doesn’t result in an injury. I hope I’m wrong on that one.
So my side would be:
Sagna Toure Djourou Gibbs
Eboue Diaby Song Nasri
Van Persie Vela
Subs: Almunia, Denilson, Bendtner, Walcott, Gallas.
