It was interesting to read some of the comments in repsonse to my esteemed colleague's post about the Roma game yesterday.
Thanks to the shambolic organisation of the Roma police, it took me three hours to get back to my hotel and therefore I returned to London without any sleep, hence no post from me yesterday, but I have to say I also took more positives than negatives from the game.
Did Arsenal play well? No, not especially. Are we good enough to win the Champions League? I doubt it, but we'll wait to see what happens.
But we are part of Europe's elite - one of the best eight clubs in the continent and that, my fellow Addicts, is something to celebrate given the indifferent season we've had.
Now, however, we must turn our attention to another force of nature - Fat Sam. As any of my friends will tell you, I cannot stand Allardyce. He takes potentially entertaining teams and turns them into boring, negative and overly combatitive outfits. I don't like using the word 'dirty' but when it comes to some of Sam's battles against Wenger teams in the past, it's an apt description. Hopefully Blackburn have not fallen under his spell yet...
So how should we line up againt our visitors tomorrow?
Definitely out are Eduardo, who sustained a groin injury in Rome, Emmanuel Adebayor, Tomas Rosicky and Cesc Fabregas, while Mikael Silvestre is available but is unlikely to feature unless Le Gaffer is desperate.
Much will depend on how some of the players who were involved for 120 minutes on Wednesday have recovered, but assuming everyone is ok, I reckon the defence will remain the same - Sagna, Gallas, Toure and Clichy.
In the centre of the park our options are boosted through the inclusion of Andrey Arshavin and I'm hoping Wenger will use both him and Walcott as our creative players, while relying on Denilson and Diaby to break up the Blackburn play and distribute.
Up front, I must confess that I thought both our starting strikers on Wednesday were poor. Indeed I'd give Bendtner the edge over RvP, who was anonymous in Rome. So I'd like to see Vela and RvP starting tomorrow's match, with Bendtner being used as an impact player to trouble the Blackburn defence when their legs start to tire.
Share your thoughts on tomorrow's starting line-up here. And if you wish to compare it with mine, here you go:
Sagna Gallas Toure Clichy
Walcott Denilson Diaby Arshavin
Subs: Fabianski, Gibbs, Song, Eboue, Merida, Wilshere, Bendtner
