There have been so many games this season when, despite realising I should lower my expectations, I assume that Arsenal will sweep aside their next opponents.
Whether it’s just because we are the Arsenal or because we’ve been spoilt by Arsène Wenger’s fantasy football, we just take some results for granted.
Until this season’s reverse against Burnley, Wenger has never been on the losing side against a lower league team, and status would suggest that fine record will continue tomorrow.
Defeats against Hull, Stoke, Fulham and relegation-haunted Manchester Sheikeh confirm that status counts for nothing this season where Arsenal are concerned.
Looking back on the records recent and distant, the Bluebirds did reach last season’s FA Cup final and took the Cup out of England for the only time in the competition’s history when they beat the Gunners in 1927.
Remember it was no walk-over when we beat Cardiff at Highbury three seasons ago, and the Welshmen are unbeaten in ten games and currently in the Championship play-offs.
Cardiff fans are notoriously patriotic and there’s no doubt that Ninian Park will be a cauldron that Arsenal will have to overcome - but in our favour, they play football rather than the kick and run the likes of Stoke City play.
Wenger will undoubtedly include some of the fringe players in his starting line-up, which may or may not be a wise move.
So with Gael Clichy suspended, below are the teams the Addict Team would field and that which we suspect Arsène Wenger will send out.
