But this was against a Steve McClaren team - the Derby of Europe. Great supporters but a team with absolutely no cohesion.
The aggregate score was 6-0 to the Arsenal, but it should have been double figures and with any luck Arsene Wenger will be putting some of his players - notably strikers Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner - through some shooting practice in the next couple of days.
But I shouldn't be too harsh on the Gunners, as there were some positives to take from the FC Twente clash. The most important, of course, is that we are now in the draw for the Champions League group stage.
Another positive was Samir Nasri. If anyone was in any doubt before, they won't be now. The fact that the young midfielder is direct and will shoot and score us goals, makes him an infinitely better player than Alexander Hleb.
And the form of our back four was impressive last night. William Gallas seems to have realised he has to prove himself and for once I could not fault our skipper.
