It looks as if Philippe Senderos has played his last match for Arsenal.
And the crazy thing is that despite his often calamitous lapses in concentration for the Gunners, the Italian media says he is on his way to AC Milan.
Yep, the club that has fielded Italian greats such as Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Mauro Tassotti, Alessandro Costacurta and Alessandro Nesta looks like making the Swiss international their newest recruit.
San Siro director Leonardo not deny media reports and said: “Senderos? There is nothing definite but the market is open until August 31.”
Clearly coach Carlo Ancelotti sees something in Senderos that the rest of us have missed.
That said, another manager who has confirmed his interest is Kevin Keegan. Not exactly renowned for his defensive acumen, Keegan's Newcatle looks a more likely fit for Big Phil.
Keegan said: "The lad has got two tremendous clubs to pick from, then, if his dad is right. We are looking for three more players to come in before the deadline - but they have got to be the right players. We need definitely one more defender, there's no doubt about that."
If you took a straw poll of Gooners, Senderos would come below William Gallas, Kolo Toure, Johan Djourou and now Mikael Silvestre in the pecking order.
I wouldn't mind seeing him go on loan for a year to see if a season playing reguarly would sharpen him up - but there will be few tears if the move is a permanent one.
