Our friends at She Wore A Yellow Ribbon ran an interesting article yesterday suggesting that since the departure of David Dein from Emirates Stadium, Arsenal's transfer dealings have been in a mess.
The reasoning behind She Wore's blast at the club was Arsene Wenger's admission at the weekend that although be believes he needs to sign another midfielder to complete his squad for the forthcoming season, he doesn't have the time to do it before the Champions League qualifier against FC Twente on Wednesday.
I have to agree with She Wore's sentiments. Like or loathe Dein, he was the man behind the Gunners capturing some fantastic talent, leaving Le Gaffer to concentrate on the job of moulding his team into the free flowing footballers we've all been privileged to witness over the past dozen or so years.
Rumour has it that Keith Edelman's departure was the result of his inability to work on contract negotiations and while I find it difficult to believe that Edelman was ever involved in player deals, the fact remains that the club has never effectively replaced Dein, meaning that too much of Wenger's time is being taken up by such matters.
Anyway, with that minor rant off my chest, I thought I'd open the debate up to you Addicts as to whom Le Boss should be spending his time on trying to lure to Emirates Stadium once the Champions League qualifier is out of the way.
I've limited the choice to the five players we've been most linked with - Gareth Barry, Gohkan Inler, Xabi Alonso, Yaya Toure and Lorik Cana. But if you can think of someone else who would best fit the bill as a defensive midfielder, use our comments section below to share your thoughts
