After the disappointment of defeat in Portugal on Wednesday, Arsenal face another daunting task with the trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday lunchtime.
I’ve never been a fan of lunchtime kick-offs and a trip to one of the grimmest towns in Britain is certainly not idea given recent performances.
That said, with injuries forcing Wenger to use Manu Eboue again, the away support up there will no doubt be right behind the Ivorian and that can only be a good thing.
The good news is that, as predicted, some of our more senior players are back – Cesc Fabregas, Bacary Sagna, Manu Adebayor and Robin van Persie and all of them will no doubt start.
With the injuries still proving prohibitive, the side almost picks itself, with the only choice being who will play wide on the other flank. My guess is that Wenger will be cautious and use Denilson rather than Abou Diaby.
But, even though the Boro squad looks pitiful, if Gareth Southgate’s men play a fast and physical game, we are going to struggle.
I thought we’d win on Wednesday, tomorrow, I’m confident of nothing.
For the record, the Addict team would be:
Sagna Gallas Djourou Clichy
Eboue Fabregas Song Denilson
Van Persie Adebayor
Let us know who you would play in the wintery climes of Teesside.
