Arsenal host Fenerbahce in the Champions League tonight and by all accounts we can expect a fairly makeshift team to turn out for the Gunners as key members of the squad are currently residing in the physio room.
William Gallas, Theo Walcott, Emmanuel Adebayor and Emmanuel Eboue have joined Eduardo and Tomas Rosicky on the injury list, but that might mean Wenger will give some of the younger players a start tonight, with Le Gaffer hinting that Mexican teenager Carlos Vela is in his plans.
I’ll be delighted if Vela is named in the starting 11 tonight, as he’s the player who has excited me most in the brief glimpses we’ve had of him so far.
Elsewhere it seems that Arsene is waiting to see if Bacary Sagna will be fit enough to start, otherwise a shuffling of the back four might be needed. And I’m hoping that Lukasz Fabianski is called upon to use his gloves, as Manuel Almunia hasn’t done much to inspire confidence lately and given that Jens Lehmann was dropped last season after a couple of indifferent performances, Le Boss wouldn’t need to spend too long explaining to the Spaniard why he is on the bench.
As usual, share your thoughts on tonight’s team selection here, but for the record here’s who I’d like to see named in the starting 11:
Sagna Toure Djourou Clichy
Randall Fabregas Diaby Nasri
