One of the most vociferous debates that has been raging since before a ball was even kicked this season is who Arsene Wenger should pick to play alongside Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the park.
While I'm not about to say we don't miss Mathieu Flamini, he's gone, so we should get over it. Just for the record, we brought him in for nothing, so we shouldn't grumble that he left for nothing. And while I'm on the subject of the Flamster, it should be remembered that his best season came when he was effectively playing for a new contract and I'm always suspicious of such players.
The fact that Flamini was allowed to leave at the same time as Gilberto was a mistake and while we're paying for it now, I believe there has to be a solution - even if it's until the January transfer window opens - within the current squad...
There are 10 possible players who I think are candidates for the central midfield role and it would be interesting to gauge who you lot think should be given the chance to cement their place in the first team.
If I've missed anyone off the list, be sure to let me know, but given that I've included Kolo Toure, Mikael Silvestre and Johan Djourou in there, I think I've covered just about every eventuality.
So apart from the above named defenders, you have Aaron Ramsey, Denilson, Abou Diaby, Jack Wilshere, Amaury Bischoff, Alex Song and Emmanuel Eboue to choose from.
Remember, we just have to shore things up until January, but if one of that lot can at least raise his game to form a partnership with Cesc, our season could start to look a lot brighter. And if they can emulate Flamini, they can make the position their own.
